Ditte is a trained nurse with extensive knowledge in areas such as surgery, cancer, and a deep understanding of the elderly and dementia. Ditte is particularly passionate about the elderly and dementia field and possesses vast knowledge within this specialty. Among other things, Ditte has worked as a center nurse at various nursing homes and has a strong empathy for the challenges and concerns our elderly face daily. As a nurse, she knows that despite no two people being alike, many standard rollators are still issued, which may not optimally suit the elderly person but are nevertheless given out as a first choice. She wants to help change this through experience and advice.
Just as there is a difference between party shoes and hiking boots, there is also a difference in which rollator suits you best. We all have different needs – some prefer city life, sports, home comforts, and others prefer an active life in nature. Therefore, from our perspective, personal and professional nursing advice should be available when purchasing assistive devices, so you find the best match. As a nurse, Ditte has a unique understanding and knowledge of which assistive devices work and, especially, for whom these devices can make a big difference. Ditte specializes in advising on preventive measures in the home, so accidents can largely be prevented rather than treated.
In connection with her work in dementia and elderly care, Ditte experienced firsthand:
- how the rug can be pulled out from under someone in a split second.
- How difficult it can be to get the necessary assistive devices approved.
- how complicated it can become if municipalities and hospitals disagree on who should provide assistive devices, e.g., wheelchair ramps.
This was the starting point for Ditte choosing to start Senior Care, based on the idea of helping others gain easier access to assistive devices, combined with professional nursing advice.

The philosophy behind Senior Care
A lot of heart and soul went into starting Senior Care. As a nurse, Ditte has long had a special passion for our elderly and demented fellow human beings. Despite this, she has always worn her professional "nurse's glasses" and primarily experienced how things work when you operate "within" the system. In the summer of 2018, a close family member suffered a massive stroke, which gave the feeling of the rug being abruptly pulled out from under them.
It's one thing to have to learn to live with a new illness, possibly new disabilities, potential permanent ailments, and long-term effects, both as a patient and a relative. It's another thing when you then experience the immense pressure and confusion surrounding: What do we do now? What assistive devices are needed? Do we need wheelchair ramps? What needs to be changed in our home? Do we now also need home care? Who can help us?
As a nurse, Ditte herself experienced being on the other side and not knowing what would happen next, which was an unfamiliar situation. What was particularly striking about this situation was that we ended up "between two chairs," where neither the municipality nor the hospital would provide a wheelchair ramp so she could safely and securely return home from the hospital in a wheelchair. Neither party believed it was their responsibility, as the condition was not "permanent," so unless we were willing to carry her in and out of the door ourselves, we had to acquire a ramp ourselves.
-That was the starting point for Senior Care... "There were so many small businesses, and again, doubt crept in... What should I choose? Is this a reputable website? Who can advise me, and is it a typical salesperson or a specialist?" Initially, we fumbled a bit in the dark, but eventually, we got the new setup sorted so our family member could come home safely and securely. We thought, we can undoubtedly do better than this!
There are thousands of thoughts and worries, and it is incredibly draining. That is precisely why Ditte and Senior Care have chosen to focus on how we can ensure an easier and safer everyday life for our fellow human beings. It can be done simply and easily – here at Senior Care.
